The problem associated with the technological process of separation of granular mixtures is considered in the paper; the process is implemented with a separating unit, with the aim to improve its technical and economic indices. The paper presents a mathematical model of the process under investigation, described using a system of nonlinear partial differential equations with corresponding initial and boundary conditions of various kinds. To solve the problem, a variation of the finite difference method is used. The study of the responses of principal parameters of the technological process is carried out by a series of computer-aided computational experiments, analysis of the results obtained and conclusions.
