Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. An estimated 17.9 million people died from cardiovascular disease only in 2019, accounting for 32% of all deaths worldwide. Of these deaths, 85% were caused by heart attack and stroke. More than three quarters of deaths from cardiovascular disease occur in low- and middle-income countries.
